Man Utd player ratings vs Leicester as Marcus Rashford's penalty proves difference

Marcus Rashford overcame Manchester United's recent penalty woes to fire them to victory against Leicester.

Paul Pogba and Rashford had both missed from the spot earlier this season, but the England forward made no mistake this time around.

Rashford was brought down by Foxes defender Caglar Soyuncu in the box at Old Trafford, then dusted himself down to convert from 12 yards.

The forward almost doubled their lead after the break but saw his free-kick crash against the crossbar as United ran out 1-0 winners.

Here's how they rated:

Marcus Rashford's penalty proved the difference (WILL OLIVER/EPA-EFE/REX)

David De Gea 7: Celebrated a new contract with a performance reminiscent of his best form. Terrific stops from Maddison and Chilwell.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7: Strong performance from right back, tenacious in defence and got forward well. Made terrific start to United career.

Harry Maguire 8: Now public enemy No1 with United fans, the £80m centre half was terrific against his former club. Imperious in big moments.

Victor Lindelof 7: In the big guy, small guy partnership with Maguire, the Swedish centre half complements his sidekick nicely.

Ashley Young 7: Did a job for the team in an injury crisis. Always committed and his crossing good even if his positioning can sometimes be off.

Nemanja Matic 6: Back in from the cold and did ok, but he does look slow and pedestrian these days. Solid but showed why they need a new No6.

Scott McTominay 9: MotM. Brilliant midfield display - full of energy, running and determination. He was unstoppable. Best player by a mile.

Juan Mata 6: Tidy on the ball, never gives it away but does not dictate games in the way he used to. Did a job. Went off injured.

Andreas Pereira 6: Some good runs forward but did not offer much protection for Wan-Bissaka. One early shot saved by Schmeichel.

Daniel James 6: Only has eyes for goal - and it did not come off for him this time. Leicester kept him fairly quiet.

Marcus Rashford 7: Showed nerves of steel to put away an early penalty after missing his last one at Old Trafford. Leicester kept him fairly quiet.

Substitutes: Fred, for Matic, 67 mins, 6; Chong, for Mata, 70 mins, 6
