Man Utd player ratings from Chelsea win as Marcus Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka star

Marcus Rashford scored twice as Manchester United got their Premier League campaign off to a storming start against Chelsea.

The England striker's brace, coupled with goals from Anthony Martial and substitute Daniel James,

United took the lead from the penalty spot after Kurt Zouma had clumsily fouled Rashford in the area.

The England striker stepped up and found the top left-hand corner of the net.

Chelsea were well on top heading into the break and Emerson Palmieri cracked a shot against the angle of post and crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten.

However, United scored twice in as many minutes after the interval to pull away. Martial doubled their lead in the 65th minute, turning in a cross from Andreas Pereira from close range.

And Rashford scored his second goal of the game shortly after the restart, latching onto a pinpoint ball over the top from Paul Pogba and coolly slotting the ball past Kepa.

Debutant James climbed off the bench to add a fourth late on.

Here's how they rated:

De Gea 7: Terrific saves at big moments. Every inch the cliched good shot stopper.

Wan-Bissaka 8: Impressive debut - solid, strong and tenacious. Excellent, motm contender.

Maguire 7: Looks made to measure for United. Powerful in defence, a real presence.

Lindelof 7: Solid. Will only grow in stature with regular and consistent partner.

Shaw 7: Looks sharp and fit, good defensively as he limited Pedro. Impressive.

McTominay 7: Booked. Did simple things well. Will never be spectacular but is growing in stature.

Pogba 7: Started very deep, grew into the game and provided two assists. Good.

Pereira 6: Midfield the area of concern and did look lightweight at times, but provided assist.

Lingard 7: Booked. With his socks rolled down, he made lovely dribbles and drove forward.

Martial 7: Dovetailed well with Lingard and Rashford, scored and looked dangerous.

Rashford 8 MOTM : Scored twice, helped set up another. Showed he can be United’s main man.

Subs: James, for Pereira, 74 mins; Greenwood, for Rashford, 86; Mata, for Lingard, 86
