Man Utd player ratings as Bruno Fernandes makes debut but star pair struggle vs Wolves

Manchester United and Wolves played out an uninspiring goalless draw at Old Trafford in their Premier League encounter on Saturday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thrust new boy Bruno Fernandes straight into his Red Devils lineup as the Portuguese international made his debut.

But the former Sporting Lisbon man couldn't inspire his new charges, as they failed to make a breakthrough against Nuno Espirito Santo's well-drilled side.

The closest United came to claiming all three points was actually through another Portuguese, substitute Diego Dalot.

But his 94th minute header from six yards dropped agonisingly wide of Rui Patricio's right-hand post.

Here are Manchester United player ratings from the clash at Old Trafford...

Manchester United

David de Gea 7

Punched away a looping first-half header from Doherty. Fine save to stop angled Jimenez shot.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 5

Too casual defensively at times, poor final ball going forward.

Victor Lindelof 7

Vital last-ditch clearance in first-half, with Jimenez ready to shoot.

Harry Maguire 7 MOTM

Impressive anticipation and reading of the game from United's skipper. Big late block to deny Doherty.

Luke Shaw 6

Made to work hard in first-half with Traore threatening down his flank. More assured after the break.

Fred 6

Typically industrious display, covering lots of ground. Sat deep throughout.

Bruno Fernandes 6

Underwhelming debut. Wayward shooting early on and sloppy passing. Shooting improved in second-half. Booked.

Andreas Pereira 4

Lost possession too often and gave away needless fouls. Poor performance.

Dan James 5

Little in the way of an attacking threat down the left side and poor crossing from wide positions.

Anthony Martial 5

Drew fouls in dangerous positions but no real threat on goal as United's main striker.

Juan Mata 6

Tidy enough on the ball but did little of note. Shot wide on the hour.

Subs: Greenwood (Pereira, 72), Lingard (James, 88), Dalot (Mata, 88)

Wolves ratings: Patricio 7; Boly 7, Coady 6, Saiss 6; Doherty 6, Moutinho 7, Neves 7, Jonny 6; Traore 6, Jimenez 6, Jota 6

Wolves subs: Neto (Jota, 70), Podence (Traore 76), Dendoncker (Jimenez, 90)
