Man Utd 'perform Alexis Sanchez U-turn' as club make decision on flop's transfer future

Manchester United are set to give on-loan forward Alexis Sanchez another chance to prove himself at the club, according to reports.

Sanchez joined Serie A club Inter Milan on a season-long loan during the summer after a nightmare 18 months at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old failed to impress for the Red Devils following his move from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring just five goals in 45 appearances.

Although he had not been expected to play for United again, The Daily Star reports that the club have made a U-turn and are now planning to welcome the Chile international back at the end of the season.

According to the publication, United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has informed Sanchez and his agent that they have no intention of letting him join Inter or any other club on a permanent basis.

It is claimed that he will instead link up with the rest of United squad for their pre-season tour.

The club are said to be aiming to re-integrate him into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side before the start of next season, with United lacking firepower up front during the current campaign.

Although Sanchez has failed to impress during his time at Old Trafford, it is understood that the Norwegian is not ready to give up on the Chilean and still believes he can turn things around.

The winger is currently under contract with United until 2022 and is believed to earn as a much as £500,000 per week.

During his current spell in Italy, Sanchez has so far been unable to rediscover the form which saw him become of the Premier League's top players.

He has made just seven appearances in all competitions for Antonio Conte's side while registering just one goal and one assist.

The Chilean has also struggled for fitness after spending over two months on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Although Sanchez is understood to want to remain in Serie A, the current loan deal does not include an option to buy.
