Man Utd owners the Glazers attempting to hijack Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Man City

Manchester United owners the Glazer family are attempting to hijack Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Man City, according to reports.

Ronaldo agreed on personal terms with the Citizens on Thursday after meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes, Juventus officials and speaking to Pep Guardiola on the phone.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner skipped training with Juventus on Friday after saying goodbye to his teammates.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri said: "Cristiano Ronaldo told me yesterday that he wants to leave Juventus immediately.

"It's true and confirmed. This is why he wasn't training today and he's not available for tomorrow's match against Empoli."

Ronaldo has reportedly jetted out of Turin this Friday afternoon.

But according to the Manchester Evening News, the Glazer family are attempting to hijack Ronaldo's transfer to City.

The Americans believe bringing Ronaldo home would go some way to mending their relationship with fans, which was damaged following the European Super League debacle.

It has also been reported by talkSPORT that United's interest in Ronaldo is serious, with other publications claiming the club has been in contact with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo in his Manchester United press conference on Friday.

The Norwegian usually plays down transfer stories concerning United, but he in some ways did the opposite.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the greatest player of all time with [Lionel] Messi. I didn't think Ronaldo would leave Juventus," said the Man United boss.

"There has been speculation. We have always had good communication. He knows what we feel about him. If he is going to move he knows we are here."
