Man Utd news: Erik ten Hag discusses Jim Ratcliffe meeting as Europa League draw decided

There hasn't been much time for Manchester United to recover from their Europa League exertions, with Erik ten Hag's side preparing for an FA Cup quarter-final after dumping Real Betis out of Europe.

Marcus Rashford's goal was the difference at Estadio Benito Villamarin, clinching a 5-1 aggregate victory. A third successive Spanish opponent awaits in the quarters, after Betis and Barcelona were both put to the sword.

There has also been news on United's takeover, with Jim Ratcliffe following Sheikh Jassim's representatives in jetting in for a presentation and a round of meetings. Here are the latest news lines from around Old Trafford.

United draw Sevilla in Europe

Manchester United will face Sevilla in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. It is a chance for revenge, after the Spanish side knocked them out of the Champions League in 2018 and beat them in the Europa League semi-finals two years later.

Erik ten Hag's team will be at home for the first leg on April 13, with the return game being held seven days later. Sevilla crept past Fenerbahce in the round of 16, losing the second leg 1-0 in Turkey but prevailing 2-1 on aggregate.

If United progress, they will face either Juventus or Sporting CP in the semi-finals. Juve beat Freiburg in the round of 16, while Sporting conquered Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in North London.

“The manager really trusts me, so I felt that confidence from him,” the youngster said. “He told me to run in behind, to get the ball and enjoy the moment.

“Hopefully it's the start of this. Of course I'm hungry. A lot of players in the group are really hungry, we have one amazing group. We all push to the same side. Hopefully, at the end of the season, we can win a lot of trophies.

“Being in a club like Manchester United, you always want to be here. So now I'm focused on helping the team to win more trophies this season.”

Ten Hag speaks after Ratcliffe meeting

Erik ten Hag confirmed he met with Jim Ratcliffe as the prospective buyer travelled to Manchester ahead of a potential renewed bid for the club. Ratcliffe is not the only bidder in the mix, and he was in town for tours of Old Trafford and Carrington as well as meetings with club staff.

"I just met them and shook hands, but I am focused on the game [against Fulham in the FA Cup]," Ten Hag told the media ahead of the weekend's action. "Others in the club are dealing with potential investors."

United will face Fulham on Sunday with a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at stake. Just four Premier League sides remain at the quarter-final stage, though 2019 winners Manchester City remain in contention as they prepare to take on Championship leaders Burnley.
