Man Utd news: Cristiano Ronaldo's choice for new boss as Erik ten Hag comments emerge

No matter how successful Ralf Rangnick is at Old Trafford, a huge decision still looms over Manchester United's season – who to appoint as the club's next permanent manager.

The club has reportedly drawn up its wishlist of candidates ahead of the big appointment this summer – and the appearance of one name, in particular, is sure to please star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is one of those said to be on the list, but comments he's made accusing United of committing a "mortal sin" have now come to light.

It comes as Britain's richest man Jim Ratcliffe is said to be interested in offering Man Utd a huge boost in the transfer market.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Manchester United headlines.

United offered transfer solution

Britain's richest man Jim Ratcliffe could be set to hand Manchester United a huge boost in the transfer market with the French club he owns, OGC Nice.

Reports suggest Ratcliffe's side want to take Jesse Lingard off of United's hands during this month's January transfer window.

Lingard is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer and with no sign of a new deal he could even leave the club for good this month.

And after being linked to the likes of Premier League rivals West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, it appears a move to France is now also an option for the United midfielder.

Ten Hag comments emerge

Erik ten Hag has accused Manchester United of committing a "mortal sin" in their treatment of compatriot Donny van de Beek.

The former Ajax midfielder made the switch to Old Trafford in 2020 for £35million but has struggled to make an impact at the club since his big move.

Ten Hag is said to be on United's wishlist to become the next permanent manager at the club next summer – but clearly believes Van de Beek should be given a chance to show what he can do.

He referred to Van de Beek being ostracised at Manchester United as a "mortal sin" in a sign he may give the midfielder a chance if he does land the top job at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo's manager choice

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have made his feelings clear about who the club's next permanent manager should be.

Old Trafford bosses are said to now have a four-man shortlist ahead of their next appointment this summer with Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique all in the mix.

Although United are said to be leaning towards a name that is not Ronaldo's top choice for the role, one person's inclusion appears to suggest the club may be prepared to follow the Portuguese superstar's advice.
