Man Utd news: Christian Eriksen's transfer U-turn as Antony offer falls short

Christian Eriksen has performed a U-turn on his previous promise that he would never play for another Premier League side other than Tottenham Hotspur.

The Denmark international looks set to complete an astonishing year after making his return to the professional game in January following his cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 last summer. The midfielder has verbally agreed to join Manchester United to become part of Erik ten Hag's revolution – after previously insisting he would not play for the Old Trafford outfit.

It comes as United's opening offer for Ajax forward Antony has fallen short of the Dutch club's valuation. And Frenkie de Jong has reacted to the news that Tyrell Malacia has signed for United.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Manchester United headlines.

Eriksen's transfer U-turn

Christian Eriksen is set to go back on his word after telling Tottenham Hotspur chiefs he wouldn't ever play for one of their Premier League rivals.

The midfielder made the promise when forcing through his move to Inter Milan in 2020. And it now seems that a move to Old Trafford may not go down well with his former Spurs boss Daniel Levy.

De Jong reacts to Malacia deal

Frenkie de Jong has reacted to the news that Tyrell Malacia has joined Manchester United.

The 22-year-old Netherlands full-back, who is understood to have cost United 15million euros (£12.95million), plus 2million euros (£1.7million) in add-ons, has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026 with the option of a further 12 months. Malacia had seemed set to join Ligue 1 side Lyon before United wooped in with a late offer to launch Erik ten Hag’s summer recruitment drive.

And after the left-back shared the news on social media, De Jong 'liked' the post in a move which is only likely to heighten expectation that the midfielder could join his countrman at Old Trafford.
