Man Utd make Ismaila Sarr transfer decision with Watford winger still available to sign

Manchester United have reportedly decided against making a move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr - despite the Senegal international still being available.

Sarr impressed for the Hornets in the Premier League last season and had been expected to leave Vicarage Road following their relegation to the Championship.

Players can still move between Premier League and EFL clubs until October 16, and there had been suggestions United could yet swoop for the forward.

But, according to Goal, the Old Trafford hierarchy have decided against it.

United would need to sign Sarr before they name their Champions League squad on Tuesday if they wanted to include him.

The Red Devils signed Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Amad Diallo and Facuno Pellistri on deadline day, but missed out on a senior right winger.

United unsuccessfully chased Jadon Sancho all summer and also pondered moves for Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Sarr.

But Watford insisted on a permanent deal for Sarr after United floated the possibility of loan move.

Liverpool were also linked with Sarr, but instead opted to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves after baulking at the Hornets' asking price.

Sarr scored six goals in 30 appearances for Watford in all competitions last season having arrived from French side Rennes.

The 22-year-old has played twice in the Championship so far this term and may now end up remaining with Vladimir Ivic's side until at least the January window.
