With Manchester United set to revamp their squad in the summer, the club are set to return for one of their previous transfer targets, Issa Diop of West Ham.
The appointment of Erik ten Hag is set to spark a period of revival at Old Trafford, with many expecting mass changes at the club. Interim boss Ralf Rangnick was not able to sign any players in the January transfer window due to higher powers at the club wanting their new boss to have a bumper budget this summer.
Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are amongst the stars set to leave United at the end of the season when their contracts expire, though other exits are anticipated. Center-backs Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are reportedly amongst those expected to depart.
And with so many outgoings means there will be fresh faces arriving at the Theatre of Dreams. Though one name being linked with the Red Devils is not too unfamiliar to supporters, as French defender Diop has been tipped to make the move to United on several occasions previously – and again by Foot Mercato recently.
In reports from Sky Sports dating back to as far back as 2019, the towering Hammers defender is thought to have been of interest to United – with his price tag in 2020 being set at £40million for United according to The Sun.
Diop has only made 13 appearances for West Ham so far this season, being ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a ligament injury. Though if Ten Hag is keen to acquire the services of the 25-year-old then he may have played his last game for the Hammers.
Villarreal defender Pau Torres has also been named as one of United’s targets previously, though if the La Liga outfit are successful in their semi-final clash with Liverpool in the Champions League then they could face stiff competition to secure the Spaniard's signature.

Though he won’t be linking up with fellow Frenchman Pogba at United, as he is weighing up where he will be playing his football next season after running down his contract at the Theatre of Dreams. His second spell at the club has underwhelmed immensely, with many criticising the midfielder for failing to deliver on a weekly basis despite possessing obvious world-class talent.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Paul Scholes explained that he felt Pogba’s time at United has disappointed. He explained: “I was there when he was a kid and this lad has got absolutely everything you would want in a footballer and a midfield player.
“His physique, he can run. I just don't think he's ever learned as a footballer, he constantly seems to make the same mistakes over and over again. It's disappointing, it looks like he's going to leave. He'll go somewhere, a manager will get a grip of him, and I think he'll do really well, as he did at Juventus.
“For some reason, at Man United, it hasn't worked out. It's a big disappointment. You see what he does with France.”
