Man Utd loanee Timothy Fosu-Mensah sends apology to Fulham supporters

Timothy Fosu-Mensah has taken to social media to apologise to Fulham supporters, after the club was relegated from the Premier League.

Fosu-Mensah joined the London club on loan from United at the start of the season, as the Cottagers looked to bolster their squad to ensure Premier League survival.

But in hindsight Fulham were always destined for misery in England’s top flight, as their recruitment proved to be flawed.

As results took a turn for the worse, the club made managerial changes and this season has seen three different managers at Craven Cottage alone.

The uncertainty and turbulence at the club has meant Fosu-Mensah has been limited to 11 first team appearances, and it’s no doubt it has been a difficult season for the young Dutchman.

However, despite his lack of involvement it’s believed Fosu-Mensah enjoyed his time at Fulham and in an apology to fans on Twitter he said: “I want to apologise to all the amazing fans and say I’m sorry I couldn’t help keep the club up this season.

“We did all we could but it just wasn’t enough. It’s a fantastic club and I know you will be back in the premier league very soon.”

The message was met with a warm response from not only Fulham’s fans but United’s fans too, and the tweet suggests Fosu-Mensah won’t be at Fulham next season, as they attempt to return to the Premier League.

Fosu-Mensah has watched on as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed back in Manchester this season, and under a new manager, the versatile defender may still have a future at Old Trafford.
