Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham and Leicester City in five-way battle to sign £40m Wales star

Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton are reportedly among five Premier League clubs interested in signing Wales star David Brooks before the closure of Friday's transfer window.

The Bournemouth winger, who pulled out of Wales' Nations League clash with Bulgaria on Wednesday, is being chased by a clutch of top-flight clubs.

MailOnline claim Liverpool, United and Everton, as well as Tottenham and Leicester, are locked in a five-club battle to secure the player's services before the window closes.

Brooks' potential destination has been a protracted transfer saga throughout the summer, with Bournemouth's £40m asking price believed to be putting off potential buyers.

However, as the clock ticks closer to the end of the window, the Cherries are bracing themselves for a number of approaches from the top flight's big clubs.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's No.1 priority in this transfer window was to secure a senior right winger and he failed to do that before the closure of the international window.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, has lost Sheyi Ojo to Cardiff City, while fellow wide man Harry Wilson is thought to be on the move in the coming 48 hours, with the Bluebirds, Swansea City, Derby County and Nottingham Forest believed to be interested.

Whether Xherdan Shaqiri stays on past January, too, is another question mark hanging over that position.

For Spurs, they have brought in Gareth Bale to challenge Lucas Moura for that right-wing berth, so quite where Brooks would fit into that dynamic is open to question.

Everton have splashed a lot of cash in recent transfer windows and whether that will extend further for a £40m splurge on Brooks seems doubtful.

However, Leicester could make an 11th hour run to sign Brooks, with Brendan Rodgers thought to be keen on recruiting a creative winger before the window closes.
