Man Utd leave agent "baffled" by failing to respond to offer of 'top class player'

Manchester United's lack of transfer activity continues to infuriate fans and former players alike.

With less than two weeks remaining of the summer window, United have signed just one senior player, with Donny van de Beek arriving from Ajax in a £40million deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that United remain in the market for new recruits, but with their well publicised pursuit of Jadon Sancho becoming increasingly frustrated, there is now genuine concern among supporters.

United legend Patrice Evra launched an astonishing attack on the club's transfer strategy suggesting their lack of "football world" knowledge was harming them.

He also claimed that United's chief transfer negotiator Matt Judge was missing out on deals due to poor communication.

In a lengthy Instagram video, Evra said: “When United wanted a player, they would just go and talk to him face to face.

“When Ferguson and Gill came to meet me at Monaco, it was worse than an interview with the CIA or FBI!

“Now we send lawyers to talk to players we want to buy. When you send lawyers, you talk about numbers -they're not people from the football world.

“When we want a player who would normally cost £20million, we're trying to buy him for £100m - but even those players, they don't even want our money any more.

“My phone is ringing now, from football directors at top, top clubs and they say 'Patrice, can you please ask a certain Matt Judge to answer his phone?'

“We’ve got the money, but we’ve not got the players, because we send the wrong people to speak with them.”

And those claims have been backed up by the Athletic's United contributor, Andy Mitten, who revealed an agent had been left stunned at a lack of response from those within Old Trafford.

On the latest Talk of the Devils podcast, Mitten said: “I’ve spoke to agents this summer, one yesterday: ‘United haven’t got back to me’.

“And this is a top class player, who if he signed, United fans would be very, very happy with.

“He’s baffled that United have not got back to him.”
