Man Utd 'interested in transfer move' for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti

Manchester United are considering a move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti, according to Mundo Deportivo .

The Frenchman has been linked with a Nou Camp exit with Arsenal rumoured to be eyeing a bid.

But the Gunners are unlikely to be able to afford the centre-back after missing out on Champions League qualification and United are now preparing to swoop.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to put pen to paper and secure a £50m move from Crystal Palace , Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will turn his attentions to a new central defender.

But they face missing out on Harry Maguire to Manchester City whilst Napoli won't budge on the sale of Kalidou Koulibaly, leaving him to consider other targets.

With the Catalan club chasing Matthijs de Ligt and also said to be interesting in United's Victor Lindelof, Umtiti has emerged as a plausible option.

The 25-year-old France international was a United target last summer before penning a contract extension at the Nou Camp.

But he suffered an injury-plagued season and Barcelona are believed to be considering moving on with concerns over his troublesome knee.

Umtiti is reportedly being considered as a possible sweetener to Paris Saint-Germain in a move for Neymar, but Philippe Coutinho could be used to play that role instead.

He has publicly stated he does not want to leave Barcelona although he could be tempted to move on for regular first team football.

United are prioritising the addition of the top class centre-back they've been chasing for a number of transfer windows as they seek a third summer signing to join the confirmed Daniel James and imminent Wan-Bissaka.
