Paul Pogba has been declared fit for Manchester United’s visit to Tottenham on Sunday.
The Frenchman missed the FA Cup third round tie against Reading last week after sustaining a knee injury following a horror challenge from Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey.
The issue was so serious he was forced to delay his participation in United’s warm weather training camp in Dubai as he underwent extra treatment at the club’s Carrington training base.
But after coming through the trip unscathed, he is set to start at Wembley.
Solskjaer said: “He looked okay towards the end, so he will be fit.
“He did have some problems, but came through the last couple of sessions well so he should be okay.”
Solskjaer spent the five days in Dubai preparing for the games that will have a major bearing on his chances of landing the United job permanently.
The interim manager faces what he describes as his first ‘proper test’against Spurs – but has also been working on specific game-plans for upcoming clashes with Liverpool, Paris St Germain and Arsenal in the FA Cup.
United flew out after victory against Reading on Saturday and returned late on Thursday.
It was evidence of Solskjaer’s determination to place Pogba at the heart of his plans that he insisted on him joining up with the rest of the squad after undergoing treatment on his knee.
Solskjaer has so far focused his attention on getting to know his players on a one-on-one basis, rather than working on specific tactics.
But the time spent together in Dubai was his first opportunity to do detailed work on the football he wants to bring to United.
That, rather than trophies, is what he believes could see him beat Mauricio Pochettino to the job.
“It was very good,” he said. “We had four good days of training so the boys enjoyed it.
“We got a few principles down, and they worked hard and I think they enjoyed working hard.
“Every single day and every single game will get us closer and we will get more understanding about how we want to play.
“The last five games haven’t been too bad but there is always things to work on, the relationship between players, the cohesion and the understanding so hopefully we will see a positive team.”
Marcos Rojo was sent home from Dubai as he continues to struggle with a knee injury.
The centre back has been allowed to return to Argentina to aid his recuperation.
Solskjaer added: “How long will he be out for? how long is a piece of rope?
“For him it was mentally important to go away and come back fresh again.”
Chris Smalling is also a doubt on Sunday due to a foot injury.
