Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces an injury crisis ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Crystal Palace and the Champions League showdown with PSG.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are all likely to be ruled out of Manchester United’s trip to Selhurst Park.
Anthony Martial is also a doubt after suffering a setback in his recovery from a groin injury.
Meanwhile Solskjaer is facing up to the prospect of being without his entire first-choice midfield as United attempt to overturn a 2-0 deficit in their Champions League round of 16 tie with PSG next week.
Paul Pogba is suspended for the game in Paris, while Matic is out for at least two weeks after sustaining a groin injury in training on Saturday.
Herrera’s hamstring strain will be assessed by United’s medical team this week, but Solskjaer fears the Spaniard’s pivotal role in the club’s resurgence in recent months has taken its toll.
Lingard had declared himself fit after hurting his hamstring in the first leg against PSG earlier this month – but suffered another injury less than 20 minutes after coming on as a first half substitute.
United’s medical team are still to confirm if it was a recurrence of the same problem or a fresh injury.
Rashford sustained a swollen ankle and is expected to be out of the Palace game, while Mata was in a lot of discomfort after also suffering a hamstring injury.
Solskjaer said: "I've never seen the like of this before, three hamstrings in the first-half.
“Rashy obviously was kicked, he did his ankle straight away, we should have taken him off as well.
“But we’ve got some good kids coming through, so we’ll have 11 players on the pitch on Wednesday night. And luckily we’ve got two days’ recovery.”
Predicted line-up: De Gea; Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; Fred, Pogba, McTominay; Pereira, Lukaku, Sanchez
