Man Utd in tussle with Liverpool for £68m Brazilian defender, Arsenal eye £5m West Ham loan deal and Leeds United boosted in chase of £20m Wales star

Here are your Premier League transfer headlines for Friday, September 4.

Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City eye defender

Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all reportedly interested in signing Brazilian defender Diego Carlos.

United, who are looking for a defender to play alongside Harry Maguire, Liverpool and City are all thought to be interested in making a move for the Sevilla man, who has a release clause of £68m, according to Marca.

Sevilla sporting director Monchi is looking to raise funds by selling some valuable assets this summer. Carlos, 27, is believed to have the highest value, while Lucas Ocampos and Jules Koundé could also leave.

When the rumours were put to him, Carlos said: "I speak with my agents to tell them not to tell me anything.

"They only inform me of very advanced things, but I only focus on Sevilla. I said that in the case of leaving Sevilla my goal is to go higher, and Sevilla is a giant."

Arsenal eyeing loan move for Felipe Anderson

Arsenal are eyeing up a loan move to sign West Ham's Felipe Anderson, according to The Mirror.

They report that the Brazilian could pen a loan deal with the Gunners, but it would cost them a £5m fee.

Anderson has fallen out of favour under David Moyes at the London Stadium, scoring just one goal and creating four assists throughout the entirety of last season in the Premier League.

With Arsenal looking to improve their options going forward under Mikel Arteta, the opportunity to sign Anderson on a cut-price deal could be a tempting one, however, the player's £140,000-a-week wages could prove a stumbling block.

Leeds boosted in pursuit of Harry Wilson

Liverpool may be forced to lower their £20m asking price for Leeds United target Harry Wilson, according to Goal.

Leeds, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all said to have registered an interested in the Welsh winger in recent weeks, however the trio baulked at Liverpool's lofty asking price.

However, Goal reports that owing to the impact of coronavirus, Liverpool may need to rethink their valuation of the player, who they have told will not be going on loan this summer.

Fellow Welshman Ben Woodburn has also been told he can leave, the report adds, with Portsmouth, Ipswich and clubs in Germany and Holland interested in his signature.

Villa see Wilson bid rejected

Aston Villa have had a £15m bid rejected by Bournemouth for striker Callum Wilson, according to a report in the Guardian .

The Cherries, who will be playing Championship football next season, are holding out for a bigger fee for the English forward.

Brentford striker Ollie Watkins is also a target for Villa, the report states, but it’s Wilson they’re making moves for.

However, Dean Smith’s side will have to offer more than £15m if they are to land the 28-year-old from Bournemouth.

West Ham target could have contract cancelled

Reported West Ham United target Samuel Umtiti could see his £135,000-a-week contract at Barcelona be cancelled, according to Cadena Ser .

Mundo Deportivo reported in July that the Hammers were interested in bringing the French centre-back to the Premier League.

Umtiti still has three years of his current deal remaining at the Nou Camp, but Barca could look to cancel the big-money deal in order to save on some funds.

The Guardian say that new Barca boss Ronald Koeman has already explained to Umtiti that he has no future at the club.

Leicester target to hold “serious” contract talks

Reported Leicester City target Florian Thauvin is set to hold “serious discussions” over his future at Marseille, according to L’Equipe, via Sport Witness .

Thauvin, formerly of Newcastle United, has also been linked with Aston Villa recently, and he is set to find out what his future holds very soon.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract in France, and plenty of clubs have shown an interest in landing the French winger.

Thauvin, and his agent, are aware that they will receive “good salary proposals” from other clubs, if he does leave Marseille on a free transfer at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Wolves and Everton chase Atletico winger

Premier League duo Wolves and Everton are both interested in signing Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, according to Spanish outlet AS .

Atletico signed Lemar from Monaco for a huge £62m a couple of years ago, but are now willing to let him go for less than half of that - at £27m.

Portuguese giants Porto are also keen on the France World Cup winner, but the player would prefer a move to England, the report claims.

Life at the Wanda Metropolitano hasn’t been great for the 24-year-old Frenchman, scoring just four goals in 72 games across all competitions.
