Man Utd in 'active transfer talks' with PSG to sign Neymar in stunning summer deal

Manchester United are in sensational talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Neymar, according to reports.

Neymar is seriously considering leaving the French capital this summer, six years after he stunned the footballing world by completing a world record £189million transfer from Barcelona.

The 31-year-old forward, who is contracted to PSG until 2027, was once the star attraction in France but Kylian Mbappe has since stolen his thunder and the Ligue 1 club are keen to put the former Monaco man at the forefront of their sporting strategy. They have no plans to stand in the Brazilian's way should he push to leave in July.

According to L'Equipe, a number of Premier League clubs have made clear their interest in Neymar and are in talks with PSG.

But Manchester United are said to have made the most progress.

And the fact the Red Devils need only a point to qualify for the Champions League next season goes in their favour. Chelsea, who have also shown an interest in Neymar, are out of the running for failing to finish in the top four this campaign.

Erik ten Hag and co. believe Neymar can help take an ever-improving United one step further next season as they look to close the gap on their noisy neighbours Man City.

Pep Guardiola's Citizens won a third consecutive Premier League title this weekend and are on course to win an historic Treble - the first in England since Man United in 1999.

Man United winger Casemiro knows Neymar well from their time together in the Brazil set-up and has been trying to convince his friend to sign for the Red Devils.

United are said to favour a loan transfer for Neymar while PSG would rather recoup some money for the Brazilian and part company with him in a permanent deal.

PSG Sporting advisor Luis Campos is set to meet with representatives for Neymar to discuss his future in due course.
