Man Utd 'in £87m Sergej Milinkovic-Savic transfer battle' with PSG

Manchester United face competition for long-term target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as PSG are reportedly preparing a bid for the £87million-rated Lazio midfielder.

Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the standout performers this season for Serie A table-toppers Lazio, who are targeting their first league title in 20 years.

The highly-rated Serbian has played all but one of Lazio's league games and has scored five goals in 30 appearances for the Italians since the start of the campaign.

United have been long-time admirers of the 25-year-old central midfielder, but are now set to face a transfer battle with Paris-Saint Germain, according to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia .

Milinkovic-Savic is contracted to Lazio until 2024, so any club wanting to sign him would have to meet Lazio's asking price of 100m euros (£87m).

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that PSG director Leonardo is a big fan of the midfielder and is ready to stump up the cash.

United could lose Paul Pogba this summer, and Milinkovic-Savic will be on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's list of options to replace the French midfielder.

But it is not only PSG who they face competition from, as Chelsea , Real Madrid and Juventus have all been linked with the 15-cap Serbia international.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito had previously revealed that they would be open to the sale of their star player - if they receive an offer that meets their valuation.

Lotito said: "Milinkovic has a good rapport with the club, just as the club has with him.

"If some offers were to be presented, we’d evaluate them with a spirit of collaboration that looks after the interests of the club and the player. We’ll make the decisions that are best for everyone."
