Man Utd identify Aaron Wan-Bissaka alternative after Crystal Palace reject bid

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly identified Max Aarons as an alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

United are set to return with a second bid for Wan-Bissaka after Crystal Palace rejected a £40m offer.

A £50m bid is being prepared but there are suggestions Palace are holding out for £60m for the England Under-21s defender.

That has led to Solskjaer exploring other options and Norwich youngster Aarons is on his radar, reports Sky Sports News.

Aarons, 19, only made his senior debut in August but played a pivotal role in Norwich's promotion last term.

He was named the EFL Young Player of the Season and also earned a spot in the Championship Team of the Year.

Aarons, who can also play at left-back, is also a reported target for Palace if they lose Wan-Bissaka.

It is claimed Tottenham are also monitoring his progress while RB Leipzig may look to snare him to Germany.

But Norwich will be hopeful of keeping the teenager after he signed a long-term contract in October.

United boss Solskjaer remains confident of landing Wan-Bissaka, who impressed for Palace last term.

The Red Devils boss is reluctant to miss out on the 21-year-old and fears his price tag will only increase if he has another successful campaign at Selhurst Park.

United need a new right-back following Antonio Valencia's departure with Solskjaer having his reservations over Diogo Dalot.

Dalot showed real signs of improvement last season, but Solskjaer believes the defender is a little too raw to be considered United's first choice right-back and favours him playing in midfield.
