Man Utd hope to seal £25m move for Jude Bellingham but remain 'miles apart' on Bruno Fernandes fee

Manchester United are pursuing a deal for Birmingham starlet Jude Bellingham - but remain at a standstill in negotiations for Bruno Fernandes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has identified the 16-year-old as a future superstar - and has told the club to steal a march on a host of suitors from across Europe.

It is hoped a deal of around £25m plus add-ons will be enough to secure the midfielder.

It’s believed United would be open to loaning Bellingham back to Birmingham if an agreement can be reached this month. But Solskjær is also aware of the need to boost the numbers in his squad following injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay, which could see him push for Bellingham to join up straight away.

Fernandes is United’s priority target this month, but it is understood they remain ‘miles apart’ from Sporting Lisbon over the midfielder’s valuation.

United have not dropped interest in the Portugal international and are still trying to strike a deal this week.

Sporting want £55m plus add-ons, while United value him closer to £40m.

As of Wednesday morning the situation was unchanged, but with negotiations continuing, it is hoped a compromise will be reached.
