Man Utd handed 'window of opportunity' as PSG focus on Lionel Messi transfer

Manchester United are pouncing on their ‘window of opportunity to sign Eduardo Camavinga, whilst Paris Saint-Germain are preoccupied with completing the Lionel Messi transfer, according to reports.

The 18-year-old central midfield player is one of Europe’s hottest prospects, having already earned three caps for the enviously talented France senior squad.

It is believed that the young Frenchman, out of contract next summer, is eager to leave Rennes this summer, with PSG at the top of his list.

According to French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, per the Daily Mail, Camavinga’s super-agent Jonathan Barnett encourages the wonderkid to consider a move to Old Trafford. Still, PSG remains ahead of United as his preferred location.

However, his dreams of joining Neymar and co might have been scuppered with the Paris side currently focusing all their attention on bringing Messi to le Parc de Princes.

Camavinga has been linked to most of Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, who were reportedly extremely keen on signing the young Frenchman.

However, due to Los Blancos’ struggling finances and their pursuit of fellow French star Kylian Mbappe, a deal for Camavinga looks unlikely at this stage.

Rennes are reportedly committed to selling their prized asset this summer, fearing losing him for a compensation deal at the expiry of his current contract in 2022. He is expected not to sign a new deal with the French side.

Despite his young age, Camavinga has a relatively experienced CV, racking up 67 appearances in Ligue 1, starting for Rennes in the Champions League, and appearing for his national team in international qualifiers for Euro 2020.

Camavinga was a notable omission in Didier Deschamps’ French side who crashed out of the Euro’s at the round of 16 stage at the hands of Switzerland.

Meanwhile, United are committed to providing cover for Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, with Kieran Trippier reportedly at the top of their shortlist.

United, who ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Everton on Saturday, would like to add to their options at right-back ahead of the new season, despite fringe player Diogo Dalot capping off a solid performance with a goal.

However, Trippier has a £34million release clause in his contract, and it is not expected that Atletico will let the 30-year-old leave for any less.

It is reported that United are only willing to spend £18m for the player who turns 31 in September.

However, they will find support at centre-back with Raphael Varane expected to complete his £41m signing from Real Madrid once he is freed from quarantine.
