Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho amid reports Borussia Dortmund have lowered their asking price for the winger.
United failed to land Sancho last summer after baulking at the €120m (£108m) price tag set by the German club.
Eventually United got close to the mark, lodging a final bid in the region of £93m just weeks before the window shut, but by that stage Dortmund had no intentions of selling.
A year on though and the landscape has altered slightly, with the Bundesliga giants now reportedly prepared to accept a lower offer, providing any bid meets their terms.
According to Sport1 in Germany, Dortmund are setting a similar deadline for any potential suitors to get their business done early in the window.
Club chiefs do not want another long drawn out transfer saga with negotiations dragging on till the start of next season.
Instead interested clubs will be told to finalise a deal by the end of July, prior to Dortmund beginning their pre-season training camp.
Sancho's stock has fallen slightly since last summer after a difficult start to this season.
Dortmund's finances are also in a worse state following the pandemic.
As a result, the club now want a fee of €85-90million (£74-78m) for Sancho - a significant knockdown from their previous demands.
That is likely to bring United back to the table, but also the likes of Liverpool, who have expressed an interest in Sancho in the past.
It is also probable that Sancho is now looking for a move too, as Dortmund chief Michael Zorc revealed the deal the club have with the 21-year-old.
"We already had a gentlemen's agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions," Zorc told ARD .
"He's been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling [Haaland]."
Asked about United's interest last summer, Zorc added: "In the end, the requirements were not met."
