Man Utd handed Jadon Sancho transfer boost as 'Borussia Dortmund line up replacement'

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho after reports Borussia Dortmund are already lining up a replacement.

United have long been linked with £90m-rated England star Sancho, and latest reports from Germany say Dortmund could sell their prized asset to fund a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz.

Former Manchester City youngster Sancho is fast becoming one of the world's hottest transfer properties, with United believed to be heading a queue of clubs across Europe hoping to secure the 19-year-old's signature.

The teenager's stock rose even further when he scored his first two goals for England in the 5-3 win over Kosovo on Tuesday.

He would fit the profile of young player United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants and would add potency to United's attack - although any suitors would have to pay top price for the winger as next summer he will still have two years to run on his contract.

United will at least be encouraged by the news that Dortmund may be willing to sell - as reported by German publication Kicker via Sport Witness .

The £90m Dortmund would hope to raise from the sale of Sancho would match the price Leverkusen are likely to want for highly-rated Kai Havertz.

And Kicker reports that Havertz is a serious target for Dortmund as they try to beat Bayern Munich to the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

However, if United want to land Sancho, there's one important factor that could make or break the deal - and that's whether they can secure a Champions league place for next season.

United's hopes of landing the hot prospect this summer came crashing down when the club failed to qualify for the Champions League .

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said a meeting took place between the Bundesliga club and representatives of United, but added at the time: the player also has no intention of taking that step this summer.
