Man Utd goalkeeping coach gives his verdict on January signing Nathan Bishop

New Manchester United signing Nathan Bishop is "ambitious, athletic, hard working, and mentally strong".

That's according to Red Devils goalkeeping coach Richard Hartis, who got a first look at the new recruit during United's warm-weather training camp in Spain.

Bishop flew out to Marbella with his new United team-mates shortly after completing a January transfer from Southend.

The 20-year-old has not stopped smiling since arriving at the club, and appears to already be impressing his coaches with his hard-working attitude.

"I think he is loving it and he has not stopped smiling," Hartis told United's official website.

"He has come in the door and I think he recognised the opportunity that he has as an individual, to come in and be around the first team, to work with the likes of David, Sergio and Lee.

"He is on his own career path and I think he sees Man United as a really good opportunity to develop and to grow.

"He is very ambitious, very athletic, very hard working, mentally very strong, he has played 39 games already at that level and for a kid of 20 that is some going really, having come through their system too."

On the ways in which Bishop is going to improve, Hartis added: "He is somebody who is really going to set the tempo in the training with his attitude, approach and application.

"He recognises that he has a group of experts in the club, not just technical experts with Michael [Carrick], Kieran [McKenna] and the rest of the coaching staff, but also the physical development side, so he is going to be able to make massive gains by using that team to help him develop as a player."
