Man Utd given green light to pursue transfer of former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can

Manchester United have been given the green light to pursue a deal for Juventus ace Emre Can.

The former Liverpool midfielder is on the fringes of Maurizio Sarri’s first team, managing just one start in Serie A this season.

He was also left out of Juventus’ squad for the Champions League group stage, sparking speculation over his future.

According to Tuttosport , the Old Lady will allow Can to leave in the January transfer window but United will face competition for his signature.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in the Germany international.

Marouane Fellaini was allowed to leave Shandong Luneng at the start of the year, while Ander Herrera completed a free transfer to PSG at the end of last season.

Can, who is reportedly valued at around £35m by Juventus, has plenty of Premier League experience after spending four seasons with Liverpool.

The German made 115 appearances before joining the Serie A giants on a free transfer in 2018.

He was a regular under previous boss Massimiliano Allegri but has found himself kicking his heels on the sidelines under Sarri.

"The fact that I am not in the Champions League squad is extremely shocking for me, mainly because I was promised something different last week," Can said in September.

"I had talks with other clubs [in the summer] and one of the conditions for me to stay was to be part of the Champions League squad. Then they phoned me and told me, in a conversation that didn't even last a minute, that I was not on the list and they didn't give an explanation.

"That makes me angry and furious, they haven't been honest with me. If I knew about it earlier, I would not have stayed at Juventus."
