Man Utd 'get the green light' to complete £60million transfer for Moussa Dembele

Manchester United have been given the go ahead to complete a £60million transfer for Moussa Dembele, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with the Lyon forward for some time, but brought Odio Ighalo in on loan from Shanghai Shenhua in January as a temporary measure.

United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is expected to open his chequebook in the summer to snap up the Frenchman, report the Daily Record.

Former Fulham and Celtic striker Dembele is at the top of Woodward's transfer wishlist, and the signing will ease the strain on Marcus Rashford as the club's only centre-forward.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has given his blessing that Dembele can leave when the transfer window reopens.

He said: "We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer. We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go."

United are set to put together a lucrative £150,000-a-week wage packet to entice Dembele to Old Trafford.

Former France Under-21 international Dembele has scored 39 goals in 82 games at Lyon, and has attracted attention from other Premier League clubs.

Chelsea are among them, but United are confident they can outbid the Blues, who have just snapped up Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech.

The Blues are set to announce their £38.7million transfer for Zieych this week, with the switch taking place in the summer window.
