Man Utd 'front of queue' for Kalidou Koulibaly transfer as four rivals chase signature

Manchester United are reportedly at the front of the queue for Kalidou Koulibaly - but they face competition from four Premier League rivals.

The Red Devils are believed to have had a huge bid for Koulibaly rejected last summer before they instead signed Harry Maguire in a world record move for a defender.

But Napoli's poor season has led to Koulibaly appearing increasingly likely to leave in the summer for a cut-price fee.

According to Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, United are in pole position to land Koulibaly.

But there are several clubs in the frame with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea also named as interested parties as they aim to strengthen their defences.

It is claimed a move for Koulibaly could rest on Napoli's form over the closing stages of the season.

If they miss out on qualification for European qualification, then they could be forced to sell to cover the shortfall from lack of prize money.

They are currently 10th in the Serie A table with 30 points.

Carlo Ancelotti departed for Everton with Gennaro Gattuso now at the helm.

After beating Juventus last month, they won a thriller with Sampdoria on Monday and now head into a clash with Leece trailing fourth placed Atalanta by nine points.

Reports have suggested he could head to the Premier League for a fee of £64million, after the club rejected offers of £90million last summer.

Sensational reports in France recently claimed Sir Alex Ferguson held talks with Koulibaly during their last pursuit.

But Paris Saint-Germain are also considered amongst the front-runners for the imposing defender, with Real Madrid and Manchester City also linked in the past.
