Man Utd fans call for one player to be sold after he lost ball 30 times vs Barcelona

Manchester United fans are calling for Ashley Young to be sold this summer following his performance against Barcelona on Wednesday.

According to Opta, the former Aston Villa winger gave the ball away a staggering 30 times in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford.

United were beaten 1-0 by Barcelona, which looked a fair result on paper.

The game itself told a different story however, with the Catalan giants battering the Red Devils for large spells and United failing to muster a single shot on target.

Young bore the brunt of the fan frustration following the match for his poor display.

Louis van Gaal advises Matthijs de Ligt to join Man Utd's rivals

On Twitter, one Manchester United fan wrote: "I would struggle to convince a Sunday League manager to sign up Ashley Young. I mean it. Unless he wanted to sell tickets for home games."

Another added: "We need to sell Ashley Young at the end of the season. He is finished," and a third said: "Not watching United anymore until Ashley Young is sold or sacked disgraceful performance."

One man who did impress on Wednesday was young Scotland international Scott McTominay.

The midfielder, filling in for the injured Nemanja Matic, was United's best player on the night and was praised by his manager after the game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loved reaction of one Man Utd player after Barcelona scored

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "He's developing every time he plays. He comes into training every day with a fantastic attitude. That is the way to improve. Every game he plays, he grows and grows.

"He was the first one to take the ball down and settle us. We had to slow the game down. We were too quick to give the ball away. The three midfielders did really well."
