Man Utd fans baffled and angry with Gareth Southgate's Aaron Wan-Bissaka decision

England have named four right-backs in their 26-man Euro 2020 squad which has angered Manchester United fans after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was not even selected for the provisional group.

The Three Lions boss cut his provisional 33-man squad, which became 32 when Mason Greenwood withdrew, but the Red Devils star wasn't included in that.

Right-back is an area where England have huge depth and Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold was reportedly going to be overlooked.

In the end he made the cut alongside Kyle Walker, Reece James and Kieran Trippier.

But Southgate's decision to omit Wan-Bissaka has not gone down well with the United faithful after he packed his side full of right-backs.

The 23-year-old has long been hailed for his defensive qualities meaning his absence has surprised many.

"If defending is so important to right back then why isn’t Wan-Bissaka playing for England," questioned one.

Another said: "Wan-Bissaka must be feeling low at the moment".

"Wan-Bissaka is better than both James and Trippier," claimed a third after the pair were selected ahead of him.

One fan said: "Amazes me that he takes four and no Wan-Bissaka. Would be my pick if England came up against France for example."

Southgate has selected 10 defenders in his squad.

Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw, who has enjoyed a stellar year at Old Trafford, are the left-backs.

United skipper Harry Maguire, John Stones, Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady are the four centre-halves.

Dean Henderson, who has been in and out of the Red Devils starting XI, is among the three goalkeepers. Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone are the other two shot stoppers.

Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice and Mason Mount are the five midfielders.

In attack Southgate had a host of options but opted against any surprise inclusions with Ollie Watkins not selected.

Harry Kane is expected to lead the line but will be backed up by the likes of Marcus Rashford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho will provide the x-factor from the wide areas.

Phil Foden, who has enjoyed a breakout year with Manchester City, was always expected to make the cut.

"The experienced players are the ones that know how to win and have been in tournaments before and driven the team," said Southgate.

"You need that balance. There are the young players that come in and give it energy - we're not taking any tourists here, we've got a squad which every one of whom is ready to play and contribute.

"That's really important because over the next nine matches we hope to be involved in, we're going to need everybody. That experience in the positional mix is really important."
