Man Utd face Jadon Sancho transfer battle 'as Real Madrid enter race' for England starlet

Manchester United will battle it out with Real Madrid to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho this summer.

The England international is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football having scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists in the Bundesliga this term.

United are known to be long-time admirers of the former Manchester City youth player, but The Independent report that Los Galaticos are now also keen on a move for the 19-year-old.

Neither side are likely to baulk at the £100m asking price for Sancho, with both keen to sign a player who looks set to be a star of the game for many years to come.

Manchester United's 5 alternative transfer targets if they fail to land first choices

The presence of United and Real in the race to sign Sancho may well please Dortmund as it could see a fierce bidding war break out for the young star.

Like Real, the Red Devils are expected to undergo wholesale changes to their playing staff in the summer as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to return them to the elite of the game.

While the likes of Paul Pogba and David De Gea may be heading for the exit door, Sancho is one of several players on Solskjaer's wishlist to bring to Old Trafford.

The teenager began his career in the youth system at Watford , before joining City's academy in 2015 for an initial fee of £66,000.

A lack of first-team opportunities saw Sancho leave the Etihad Stadium to join Dortmund for £8m in August 2017 and the youngster has not looked back since.

Sancho has gone on to become a key man for the German outfit and was also a member of England's Under-17 World Cup winning squad in 2017.

The winger made his senior England debut in October 2018 and has since gone on to play a further three times for his country.
