Man Utd 'face competition from Chelsea' in Jude Bellingham transfer battle

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from Chelsea this summer as they try to land teenage whizzkid Jude Bellingham.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been linked with a swoop for 16-year-old Birmingham midfielder Bellingham, who has been tipped as the most promising young English talent since Wayne Rooney.

The £30million-rated England under-17 midfielder, who can play across the midfield, has scored four goals and recorded three assists in28 Championship games for Birmingham so far.

And now Chelsea have joined the race for Bellingham which could see a record transfer fee paid for a teenager, according to The Sun.

The publication claims the chase for Bellingham would not affect either side's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, or United's plans to swoop for Leicester midfielder James Maddison and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

Meanwhile, former United man Robins can see why his old club would look to sign Bellingham.

Robins, 50, said: “In Jude Bellingham they [Birmingham] have one of the best 16-year-olds or the best 16-year-old I have ever seen.

“Bellingham is a stand-out. He is a brilliant talent capable of playing in the Premier League, no doubt about that.

“He is ridiculous for 16 years of age to have that power in his body, it is unbelievable.

“He has talent way beyond his years without a shadow of a doubt.

“He could do whatever he wants to do.”
