Andreas Pereira has become the latest Manchester United player to go public with their desire to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
Ralf Rangnick is less than two weeks into his stint as United interim boss and has enjoyed a positive start on the pitch, winning two of his three games in charge.
Behind the scenes, the 63-year-old is busily going about assessing a squad which had regressed so alarmingly under his predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
It is expected funds will be made available for Rangnick, who will also take on a two-year consultancy beyond his spell in the dugout.
Rangnick has said that every player will have a chance to impress and stake their claim for a part in the new regime, but earlier this week, Martial’s agent made it clear his client wished to move on.

“Anthony wishes to leave the club in January,” Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports News. “He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”
Martial signed for United back in 2015 in a deal that could rise up to £55million with add-ons, including one if the Frenchman ever won the Ballon d’Or.
Those heights have never been close to being hit and it appears highly likely his time at the Red Devils will be remembered for a player who failed to ever really fulfil his potential.
And now Pereira has sent a similarly strong message to Old Trafford bosses that his future lies away from the club, in his case staying with Flamengo instead.
The midfielder joined the Brazilian giants on a season-long loan in the summer, having told Solskjaer that he wanted more regular first-team opportunities.
Pereira has five league goals in 18 games so far this campaign and has now said he hopes to remain with the club permanently.
“My desire has always been to stay here at Flamengo, and now we are going to do everything,” Pereira told ESPN via Metro.
“We are going to talk to President Landim and Marcos Braz to make this possible. Of course, I have a feeling that I owe the fans a title.

“As I told them, you can count on me, I’ll do my best so that next year we can come out with those titles there.”
Rangnick has already suggested that due to the size of the squad he has inherited, he is open to loaning players out that aren’t in his immediate plans.
“It’s still too early to talk about what might happen in the winter transfer window [but] if I look at the number of players we have it’s still a big squad,” he explained.
“We also need to make sure that players want to stay here. If they are still not getting enough game time here it might make sense to speak individually with the players and see if a loan might make sense.”
