Man Utd dressing room reaction after unexpected Sheffield United defeat

Manchester United’s defeat against Sheffield United on Wednesday night left the dressing room “devastated”, Harry Maguire has revealed.

The Red Devils were disappointing against Chris Wilder’s side as they went down 2-1 at Old Trafford.

After going behind to a Kean Bryan goal after 20 minutes, United were up against it as the Blades sat in their own box and defended deep.

United were unable to crack through the relegation contenders’ defence, and were made to wait until the hour mark before Harry Maguire scored an equaliser.

Just a few minutes later, however, they were behind again as Oliver Burke scored with just 15 minutes left.

The defeat left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

And Maguire opened up on the atmosphere in the dressing room after the defeat, confessing that he and his team-mates were “devastated”.

United have the chance to bounce back against Arsenal this weekend, and Maguire explained how the Red Devils are planning to regain their spot at the summit.

“It’s the best thing possible,” he said of the Arsenal game.

“When you get beaten there’s nothing worse than having to wait to put things right.

"The boys are devastated, it's a really quiet dressing room, we didn’t expect it, but we have to pick ourselves up, it hurts but Saturday is a big game and we have to bounce back.

“It’s all good and easy when you’re winning football matches and playing well, now we’ve got to stand up and be counted.

“When you get kicked down it’s how you bounce back.

“Saturday's a big game and we have to go and get three points."
