Man Utd draw up desperate last-ditch attempt to force Tottenham to sell Harry Kane

Manchester United have called on Harry Kane to force through a departure from Tottenham as his move to Old Trafford continues to stall.

Kane is United's top target in this summer's transfer window, with boss Erik ten Hag desperate to add a top-level striker to his squad. The England captain has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs, sparking hope a deal could be done.

But chairman Daniel Levy has dug his heels in and is refusing to consider allowing Kane to depart. That has left United increasingly frustrated and transfer chiefs at the club are now turning to desperate measures in an attempt to get a deal done.

According to The Sun, United have now told Kane that if he wants to move to Old Trafford, he will have to make it happen himself. The Red Devils are ready to walk away from the deal after encountering difficulties in negotiations.

The Premier League giants are now launching a last-ditch attempt to secure their top target. That has led to them instructing Kane to eithe publicly submit a transfer request or issue a strongly-worded statement revealing his desire to leave.

Spurs are adamant he is not for sale, leaving precious little room for manouvuere in negotiations. United are willing to pay £80million for the striker, though Spurs have slapped a £100m price tag on his head.

Kane himself is thought to be desperate to move to Old Trafford, but United are unwilling to let the situation drag on. United are already exploring alternatives to the Spurs striker, with a route to a deal looking increasingly difficult.

The England skipper, who became both his country and his club's record scorer in the campaign just gone, has already been urged to take exactly the course of action United are demanding.

Back in May, former Spurs star Jamie Redknapp insisted that it was now or never if Kane is to secure a move to a top-level club. He urged Kane to push through an exit and join the Red Devils.

“It's the facts, it feels Spurs are a shambles, if you are Harry Kane with one year to go this is the time to leave he has to push now," Redknapp told Sky Sports ahead of Tottenham's final game of the season.

“(Manchester) United they might get someone, he missed Man City a few years ago, right now he needs to push with one year on contract to go somewhere.

“Tottenham are like a social experiment of how far you can push your fans before they completely lose it. They need to do something, no one wants to lose Harry Kane, he has been incredible but deserves better.”
