Man Utd defender Marcos Rojo 'looking forward' to Fenerbahce transfer and more transfer gossip

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is 'looking forward' to moving to Fenerbahce, according to reports.

There was already a glut of centre-backs at United before the club signed Harry Maguire for a world record £80million fee and his signing brings the number up to seven.

Maguire and Victor Lindelof are the clear first choice, with youngster Axel Tuanzebe establishing himself as a back-up in absence of the injured Eric Bailly.

The remaining three centre-backs, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Rojo, have not been involved in any United squad so far this season and it appears clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to get at least one of his defenders off the wage bill.

Rojo, who has started just once under Solskjaer and is now 29, appears to be the most likely to make the move and Turkish side Fenerbahce reportedly want him.

According to TRT Spor's Fenerbahce corespondent, Kenan Pamuk, cited by Sport Witness, the Argentine is the club's 'first choice' in their hunt for a new defender.

It's claimed that Rojo initially 'had doubts about coming to Istanbul' but he is now 'looking forward to joining the club.'

However, it's reported 'negotiations on wages continue' with Fenerbahce not willing to pay what Rojo currently owns at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, Mexican forward Hirving Lozano has completed a £34.2million move to Napoli.

The former PSV Eindhoven had been heavily linked with a move to United in the past.

Jesus Martinez, the club president of his former club Pachuca, even said that Lozano had 'dreams' of playing for United.

"What I can say and guarantee is that Hirving has had a Manchester United scout watching him since he was 16," Martinez told  ESPN Deportes. "They have his whole record.

"They have everything: videos, goals, behaviour, qualifications. They are one of the clubs with the best scouts and professionals in that area.

"My ultimate dream would be to see 'Chucky' at United and Hector (Herrera) at Atletico. It would be my dream and theirs."

However, if the 24-year-old still harbours such dreams they may take a while to complete as he has signed a contract until 2024 and reportedly has a €130m release clause.
