Man Utd dealt Jadon Sancho transfer blow as Borussia Dortmund make January decision

Borussia Dortmund are not prepared to sell Jadon Sancho in January which could put an end to Manchester United's mid-season plans.

The Englishman was United's top summer target but they failed to secure his services following a lengthy pursuit.

Dortmund had set the Premier League outfit an August deadline by which to complete any transfer, but that came and went.

Sancho is thought to be open to a move back to England's top flight having moved to the Bundesliga three years ago.

United though felt that Dortmund's asking price was too high given the impact of the coronavirus on football club finances.

There were expectations on the Red Devils returning with another bid in January, but Dortmund are not prepared to negotiate according to Bild.

Michael Zorc, the club's CEO, again reiterated earlier this month that their star man would not be sold to United in the lead up to deadline day.

He told Ruhr Nachrichten : "Everything that can be said on this subject has already been said. Nothing will change that."

Sancho has scored 35 goals in 102 games for Dortmund and also registered a host of assists.

He remains one of football's hottest properties and United have been warned that this summer was their best chance to sign the forward.

The impact of the global pandemic meant that several of Europe's top clubs opted against heavy investment, but in 12 months time the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool may be able to table a bid for Sancho.

United's failure to sign the 20-year-old summed up a lacklustre summer window that saw the club miss out on a host of top targets.

Donny van de Beek was their only new addition prior to the final days of the window when Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Edinson Cavani also headed to Old Trafford.
