Man Utd dealt Jadon Sancho transfer blow as Barcelona and Real Madrid 'enter race'

Manchester United's task of luring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford just got harder after Barcelona and Real Madrid entered the race for the Englishman.

The Borussia Dortmund star is linked with the exit door and United are firmly in the hunt.

But the Spanish giants are set to join the race with Barcelona prepared to include highly-rated youngster Ansu Fati in the deal.

The teenager has burst on to the scene this term and the Catalans are prepared to offer him to the German side, but only on loan claims Bild.

Madrid meanwhile threw money at the transfer market last summer but could still finish the season trophyless.

Los Blancos have a reputation for acquiring world stars and Sancho is set to be just that.

Dortmund have slapped a £100m price tag on the former Manchester City academy star.

It remains to be seen how the coronavirus pandemic will affect club finances and, as a result, summer spending.

United spent around £150m last summer and, despite an upturn in performances recently, remain someway off the pace domestically.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made adding young, homegrown talent a priority and Sancho perfectly fits that profile.

United are also prepared to give the 20-year-old the famous No 7 shirt at Old Trafford.

Throughout history the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo have all worn it.

Dortmund though, despite losing several of their best players over the years, are determined to retain Sancho's services.

Their sporting director Michael Zorc has said: "We have a long-term contract with Jadon Sancho (until 2022).

"Nothing will change about that now. We are totally relaxed about it."

Sancho has scored 31 goals in 90 appearances for Dortmund and become a regular in Gareth Southgate's England squad.
