Man Utd dealt concerns as PSG draw-up two-man 'shortlist' for Kylian Mbappe replacement

PSG have got Marcus Rashford on a two-man shortlist of players they want to replace Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.

The Manchester United forward has thwarted the French side on more than one occasion, twice scoring the winning goal at the Parc des Princes. Rashford has also just enjoyed the best season of his career in front of goal and that has attracted attention from Paris.

The 25-year-old smashed the 30 goal barrier for the first time and could fill the void left by Mbappe, should PSG successfully offload the global star. Money would not be a problem for the Parisians whilst Rashford himself has yet to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

Bild reports that he and Randal Kolo Muani, who continues to thrive at Frankfurt, are the two men on their radar. Muani, who was born in the same Paris suburb as Mbappe, has been a star performer for the German side and has impressed with Les Blues.

Frankfurt would be open to Muani's exit if the right fee was paid, despite United also being credited with interest in the past. There immediate problem though might be fending off PSG's interest should they come calling for Rashford, who has been at the Red Devils for his entire career.

Muani scored 23 times for the Bundesliga outfit last term after initially shining in Ligue 1 with Nantes. The young Frenchman would add to PSG's forward line, albeit Mbappe's exit would leave a massive hole. The World Cup Golden Boot winner has made it clear he won't sign a new deal, making him free to leave in 12 months.

The situation between him and his club has got messy as its continues to be played out in public. The forward himself claims he made it known that he wouldn't stay beyond 2024 whilst PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is adamant that Mbappe will not be allowed to leave for free and must depart this summer.

He said: "We don't want to let the best player in the world go for free, it's impossible. PSG is a French club, it's his city, and he's already said he doesn't want to leave for free. If today someone made him change his mind, it's not my fault."

Former club chief Leonardo believes it is time for the Frenchman to move on after six years in Paris and is confident the club can survive without him. He told L’Equipe : “For the good of PSG, it’s time for Mbappe to leave, no matter what. PSG existed before Mbappe and will exist without him. He’s been at the club for six years and there are five teams without Mbappe that won the Champions League.”
