Manchester United have 'cooled their interest' in Mario Mandzukic ahead of the January transfer window as the club won't panic after poor start.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his attacking line after the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan over the summer.
United have struggled to win this season with just two victories to their name and just nine goals scored in the opening eight games.
And, according to ESPN , a January move for the Croatian international is 'considered unlikely' by the club, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to continue to be the Red Devils' main options upfront.
33-year-old Mandzukic is surplus to requirements at Italian giants Juventus and United have put off by his wage demands and reluctance to sign a short term deal with the club.
According to the same report, interest remains in the striker, but he is not a priority.
United are likely to spend money in January with James Maddison a name at the top of the list for Solskjaer.
Solskjaer reportedly met with the club's recruitment department back in September in order to draw up a list of targets for the next phase.
And, if players are available in January ahead of the summer, they are willing to splash out the cash.
Mandzukic is yet to make an appearance this season and is likely to continue his role as back-up to the back-up heading into January.
United face Liverpool on Sunday in the only match of the day as they look to get their season back on track.
The Red Devils currently sit in 14th place with just two wins, three draws and three defeats from eight games.
