Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'plotting drastic tactical switch' for Tottenham clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly plotting a radical tactical switch as he bids to arrest the Red Devils' slump against Tottenham tonight.

United are winless in three games in all competitions and have tasted victory just once in their last four Premier League outings.

They welcome former boss Jose Mourinho back to Old Trafford tonight as the self-styled Special One looks to continue his 100 per cent start in charge of Spurs.

And - such is Solskjaer's desperation - he is ready to shake things up and revert to a back five in order to nullify Tottenham's attacking threat, report The Sun.

Defeat to Spurs would heighten the pressure on the Norwegian with United currently sitting 10th in the Premier League - eight points off the top four.

They travel to the Etihad for a Manchester derby on Saturday and Solskjaer can ill afford to go into that game on the back of another disappointing result.

United were held by Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday after a young Red Devils side were beaten at Partizan Belgrade last Thursday.

That followed a 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United, a match in which United fell 2-0 behind before recovering to take the lead, only to be pegged back late on.

Moving to a back five would likely see Axel Tuanzebe join Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire at centre-half, flanked by wing-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ashley Young.

United are without a top-flight clean sheet since September 14 and have shipped six goals in their last three games.
