Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans on finding "nice way" to stop Liverpool

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will draw on Manchester United's past experiences against Liverpool as he bids to frustrate the Reds again on Sunday.

United are the only team in the Premier League not to have been beaten by the runaway leaders this season, with Liverpool requiring a late Adam Lallana equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October.

That result was Liverpool's second successive draw at Old Trafford, with Jurgen Klopp's side held 0-0 by Solskjaer's United in February.

The Norwegian took over the United hotseat in December 2018 after Liverpool's 3-1 win over their old rivals led to the sacking of Jose Mourinho, and he's taking confidence from those draws ahead of his first outing in the Anfield dugout.

"Of course it’s hard. But I’ve had Liverpool here twice and we’ve drawn both," Solskjaer told reporters after United's 1-0 win over Wolves in their FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday.

"You want to win those games but we’ve found a nice way of playing against them and deserved the points in both of them.

"Let’s just wait and see. It’s a couple of days until I see you again."

“That (bringing him on) backfired, but you have got to go for them once in a while but it seems like he has a knock," Solskjaer told BT Sport.

"He couldn’t run, let’s test him over the next couple of days. Hopefully he will be ok for Sunday. I don’t know,” he told BT Sport.

“He has struggled a little bit with a couple of knocks with his back lately and he got another one which didn’t help.”
