Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fires warning to Jesse Lingard ahead of new campaign

Jesse Lingard has been told to stop making bad decisions and raise his game.

The talented attacking midfielder lost his way last season and was recently disciplined by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for posting a lewd video while on holiday in Miami with Marcus Rashford and friends.

Now, Solskjaer wants Lingard, 26, to focus on regaining the deadly form that made him a big game goal hunter.

The England star started to add spectacular goals to his game with the eye-catching winner in the 2016 FA Cup Final against Crystal Palace .

But they dried up last season with the midfielder scoring only five for United – and Solskjaer reckons that’s just not good enough for a player of his ability.

“Jesse has proved before with his big-game goals that he’s valuable. But of course I’m going to demand more of him," said the United boss.

“I think he will be the first one to know that his last season was not up to standard. What we have discussed can be between the two of us, but I expect more from him and he knows what I want.

“Jesse knows what it is to be a Manchester United player. At times maybe he’s made one or two bad decisions but he’s made more good decisions than bad. He’s a top boy.”

Lingard appears to be taking the warning on board with club staff impressed with his stats and fitness levels which have placed him among the top performers in pre-season.
