Man Utd boss makes transfer promise as he's told to sign Gareth Bale and Aston Villa star in major double deal

Manchester United have been urged to make a move for Wales star Gareth Bale amid reports that he has been training away from the first team at Real Madrid.

The Red Devils have been pushing hard for Jadon Sancho this summer, but Borussia Dortmund are standing firm on their asking price.

There has also been links to Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, and United should prioritise a move for Bale as well as the England international, according to Tim Sherwood.

“When teams back off, that’s when Manchester United have struggled, but that was until [Bruno] Fernandes came in,” he told Sky Sports

“Fernandes could find the key to the door and open teams up. Van de Beek can do that as well, he makes runs and scores goals.

“But I would also go for Jack Grealish, he can open the door, he’s another Fernandes and gives them another quality that they need.

“I would also go out and sign Gareth Bale on a free transfer. For me, he needs to come back to the Premier League and start playing football again.

“I think he has a lot to offer and I think he will flourish for a couple of seasons if he goes to Manchester United.”

Bale has endured a difficult few months at the Spanish club, with Marca now suggesting that the winger is training away from the first team at the club.

Real Madrid are said to be looking to move Bale on during this summer, either on a loan or permanent deal, with him seemingly not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the 2020/21 campaign.

United boss Solskjaer has promised supporters he will "try to make some business" before the summer window closes if the right deals present themselves.

He added: "It’s been a strange time and a strange world. Financially, I’m sure loads of clubs have suffered. It looks like it as there has not been a lot of activity in the window. We’re always looking to improve the squad, scouting players and, if something fits, both the financial bit and the football bit, of course we’ll try to make some business."
