Man Utd and Wales star Daniel James plays on in Croatia clash despite seemingly being knocked out by sickening collision

Wales winger Daniel James found himself the centre of a fresh debate around the treatment head injuries on Sunday night, after being allowed to play on despite seemingly being knocked out cold during the Euro 2020 qualifying clash with Croatia at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The forward received extensive medical attention following a coming together with Croatia's Domagoj Vida 14 minutes into the game, shortly after Nikola Vlasic had handed the visitors the lead.

Replays suggested the Manchester United star received a knee to the head during the collision, which saw Vida booked as a result.

James appeared to be momentarily knocked out cold in the immediate aftermath of the incident, which immediately sparked concerns on the pitch and on the Wales bench.

However, the former Swansea star was soon on his feet and, after being assessed by the Wales medical team, was deemed fit to continue.

But while keeping one of their star players in the fray may well have come as a boost, many fans on social media didn't agree with the decision to send him back on.

However, according to Sky Sports, the Wales medical team were adamant that, following a full assessment, James was fit to continue.

Following his re-introduction, Wales tweeted: "Dan James rises to his feet and is good to play on following a full assessment from the Cymru medical team."

James himself denied being knocked out by the challenge after the game, telling Sky Sports: "I'm fine. Think he caught me in the haed. But fortunately I didn't get knocked out."
