Man Utd and Wales football legend Mickey Thomas has just received the most brilliant news

Wales and Manchester United football legend Mickey Thomas has revealed he is now cancer free after undergoing surgery.

The 64-year-old revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer just after Christmas.

Fans set up a GoFundMe page to offer Thomas financial support during his battle with the disease.

But the ex-Wales international - whose list of former clubs include Wrexham, United, Everton and Chelsea - has since revealed he is free of cancer after having an operation and that he will now embark on a nine-week chemotherapy course.

Writing on his official Twitter account, Thomas wrote: "After a massive operation I have just found out today I am cancer free.

"I still have a nine-week chemo course as an insurance policy and a long road to recovery.

"Thank you for all the support and especially to the people who operated on me and saved my life."
