Man Utd and Man City 'consider transfer move' for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has reportedly emerged as a possible transfer target for both Manchester clubs.

England star Winks, 23, has completed 90 minutes just twice under Jose Mourinho, seemingly falling down the pecking order after being a regular under Mauricio Pochettino.

The midfielder was handed a start in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough on Sunday but was again withdrawn before the hour mark after suffering an ankle injury in the first half.

His lack of playing time has reportedly alerted both United and City, who could make moves before the end of the month.

The Athletic reports Winks has been discussed by senior figures at Old Trafford.

It is also reported Premier League champions City are ready to address their midfield options in the summer.

Fernandinho turns 35 in May while skipper David Silva has already confirmed he will be leaving the club this summer.

City are admirers of Winks, whose ability to dictate play from a deep midfield position has alerted club scouts.

Winks was replaced by Erik Lamela against Middlesbrough as Tottenham's struggles under Jose Mourinho continued.

They trailed to the Championship side in the FA Cup third round after Ashley Fletcher broke clear to open the scoring.

Lucas Moura did managed to head in an equaliser but Spurs problems were again on show at the Riverside.

Tottenham , who were without talisman Harry Kane, have now won just one of their last five matches in all competitions.

Next up is the visit of Premier League leaders Liverpool on Saturday evening.
