Man Utd and Liverpool target Kai Havertz ready to discuss transfer

Manchester United and Liverpool target Kai Havertz is considering a move - but he'll speak to Germany boss Joachim Low first.

Low is something of a mentor to 20-year-old Havertz after calling the highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder into the Germany squad last year.

Havertz was enjoying a breakthrough season at Leverkusen, scoring 20 goals in 42 appearances, which put Premier League clubs and teams across Europe on alert.

He has two in seven games in the Bundesliga this term, while he netted his first goal for his country in their 2-2 draw with Argentina earlier this week.

The £80m-rated ace has been linked with both United and Liverpool , with Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp known to be an admirer of Havertz, while Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to boost his shot-shy side's attacking options.

Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are also believed to be tracking Havertz, while Barcelona and Real Madrid have also joined the race to sign the attacking midfielder, who is contracted to Leverkusen until the summer of 2022.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, Havertz was asked about a possible move.

"I listen to many people but in the end it will be my decision," said Havertz in quotes reported by Metro .

"I will embrace any advice Low will give me because he has a lot experience – it wouldn’t be smart to not listen to him."

However, Low's advice might not be good news for Havertz's many suitors.

Low revealed recently that he felt Leverkusen was the best place for Havertz to continue his development for the time being.

Low said: "I’ll talk to him on occasion, but not now and not this year. He’s supposed to be playing in Leverkusen, where he plays regularly, that’s the biggest advantage for a young player like that."
