Man Utd and Chelsea among clubs considering transfer swoop for Brighton's Ben White

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are among the clubs reportedly considering a move for Brighton defender Ben White.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been an ever-present for the Seagulls since returning to the club in the summer following his successful loan spell at Leeds United last season.

Despite speculation linking him with a permanent switch to the Whites in the last transfer window after he helped them win promotion to the Premier League, he ended up staying at the Amex.

And according to Sky Sports his impressive recent performances have drawn interest from a number of big teams.

It is not yet clear whether any of them will make a bid in January or wait until next summer.

But White is likely to command a significant transfer fee, especially given the fact he has only recently signed a new contract with Brighton.

United's interest in buying a new centre-back is no secret, and it came as a surprise to many that they did not open the chequebook over the summer.

They were linked with a whole host of players, including Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig, and the position is likely to be one of their priorities in the near future.

Chelsea and Spurs, meanwhile, could also do with further depth at the back as they look to mount a title challenge this season.

It remains to be seen if White wants to leave Brighton, but offers from some of the biggest teams in the country would surely be difficult to turn down.

He has started all 10 of the Seagull's Premier League games so far this season, and helped his side grab a valuable point in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the weekend.
