Man Utd and Arsenal transfer target Dayot Upamecano confirms talks with clubs

RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano has confirmed that discussions have been held with other clubs amid speculation he will soon be on the move.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Premier League following several impressive seasons in Germany.

His performance in Leipzig's Champions League quarter final win over Atletico Madrid came in for particular praise.

Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal have both been touted as potential suitors for the 23-year-old.

Upamecano only signed a new deal in Leipzig in July and is happy with the Bundesliga outfit, but concedes he is keeping his future options open.

"I extended in Leipzig, because I feel good with my team-mates and my coach. I’m good at Leipzig," he said.

"It’s true that I’m in great demand. I speak with clubs, but I’m in no rush and we’ll see what happens in the future."

Upamecano's deal with the German side runs until 2023 putting them in a strong position.

The player's release clause is £53m but if he were to stay until next summer that figure would drop to £40m.

Arsenal's interest may have dwindled after they confirmed the signing of Gabriel Magalhães for Lille.

The centre-half joins William Saliba as new faces in north London this summer.

United though are in the market for a central defender as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks a partner for Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils made the Englishman the world's most expensive centre-half last summer.

Victor Lindelof was often picked alongside Maguire but Solskjaer is still looking to fine tune his squad.

A right-winger remains a priority but their hopes of signing Jadon Sancho hang in the balance with Borussia Dortmund playing hard ball.
